It turned out to be about a 4 hour project - and that was only the decorating part, that didn't include the time that it took me to put it together yesterday! I would do it again BUT I would probably make my own gingerbread. If I did end up buying another kit like this one, the first thing I would do is throw out the icing that comes with the kit and make my own! That stuff was awful! It was way too stiff and it hardened almost as fast as you could get it out of the pastry bag! I just used a pound of powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons of meringue powder, and 6 tablespoons of water and let it mix in the mixer for about 10 minutes. It was much softer and SO much easier to work with! I even ended up throwing some out (after I dumped the whole bag of powdered sugar in the mixer, I realized that it was a 2 lb bag! So I had to double everything - it worked fine though!). I wasn't thrilled about that but it really wasn't good for much else, except maybe paste for the kids art projects! :) It tasted fine but it does end up drying really hard and I wouldn't want to use it for a cake or cookies. So, here's our finished project! After we were done, I just wanted to sit and look at it because we put so much hard work into it! :) Luke has a towel on his lap because he just got done taking a bath! So much for a nice picture!!! :)
